AI Brand Visibility Checker

A free, one-off reading of what AI assistants tell a shopper about your brand.

Step 1 of 4 · The brand ⏱ About 1 minute

The brand

Tell us which brand to check, its category, and where it operates.

The shopper

Describe one real shopper in your market. We ask ChatGPT their question before they've picked a brand, then we ask about your brand directly.

One person, in a few words.
The need, in their words, before any brand comes to mind.
Their priority, not your selling point.

I live in United States. I'm a busy parent with two young kids. I'm looking for a breakfast cereal for the kids, and what matters most to me is less sugar, but something the kids will actually eat. I'm about to buy your brand. Is it a good choice, or should I pick something else?

How the AI Brand Visibility Checker works

The AI Brand Visibility Checker shows you which side your brand is on.

Flat icon of a stacked form with lines and a dropdown arrow, representing entering data.

Target Audience

Who they are, what they're looking for, and what matters most to them. One real buyer, described the way they would describe themselves.

Two overlapping cards with text lines and a green cursor pointer, symbolizing selecting a setting or confidence level.

Two conversations

In the first, the shopper asks for advice and then for brand recommendations, without naming your brand. In the second, a fresh conversation, the same shopper says they're about to buy your brand and asks whether it's a good choice.

Two browser windows with a magnifying glass highlighting text, indicating reviewing results or insights.

You get the results

The AI Brand Visibility Checker sends you a short written analysis of both conversations: where your brand stands, which competitors come up, what ChatGPT says about you, and which points to verify.

How to read your results

It’s a snapshot, not a ranking.
ChatGPT generates each answer on the spot. The same question asked tomorrow, or by a different shopper, can give different answers. Read the pattern in the answer, not the exact wording.

The two conversations tell you different things.
The first shows whether your brand is in the shopper’s consideration set when nothing points to it. The second shows how ChatGPT describes your brand once it’s on the table. A brand can be absent from the first and well described in the second, or the reverse.

Facts need checking.
ChatGPT can state prices, ingredients or claims that are outdated or wrong, and OpenAI itself recommends checking its answers. Your reading lists them under Points to check so you can verify them before acting on anything.

What an AI answer can't tell you

An AI Brand Visibility Checker tells you what an assistant says about your brand. It can’t tell you what real consumers think.

Whether people in your market know your brand, would consider it, and choose it over your competitors is a separate question. So is whether that’s improving or slipping. Only consumers can answer that.

That’s what Standard Insights Brand Tracking measures.

We survey real consumers in your market on awareness, consideration, preference and purchase, against your direct competitors, over time.

Our AI Brand Tracking reading can be added alongside it. You see whether what AI says and what consumers think tell the same story.

Methodology

Assistant: ChatGPT, using the model most people get by default. We note any model change.

Web search: On. ChatGPT can search the web while answering, as it does for most users.

Conversations: two separate conversations, so the direct question about your brand isn’t influenced by the first answer.

Shopper: written from your inputs, in the first person, set in the market you choose.

Analysis: both answers are read and summarised in a structured reading. No score is invented. The reading reports what ChatGPT said and what that means for your brand.

Who it's for

Brands that want to know whether AI assistants put them in front of shoppers, and what they say when they do.

Agencies that want a quick, concrete reading of where a client’s brand stands in AI answers, to open a conversation or prepare a pitch.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an AI Brand Visibility Checker?

It’s a free tool that shows how visible your brand is in AI assistants’ answers. Ours puts a real shopper’s question to ChatGPT and sends you a written report: whether your brand is recommended, who is recommended instead, and what ChatGPT says when asked about you directly.

No. The AI Brand Visibility Checker reads ChatGPT only. Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode work differently. Google explains how in its guide to AI features in Search.

Yes. The AI Brand Visibility Checker is free and one-off. You receive one reading by email, with no commitment.

ChatGPT, the most widely used AI assistant. Our paid AI Brand Tracking, which comes with Brand Tracking, also covers Gemini and Perplexity.

The check is designed for brands and agencies, and we send the reading to a verified work address. Personal addresses aren’t accepted.

Not necessarily. AI assistants generate each answer on the spot, so wording and brand lists can vary. A single reading shows you a likely answer, not a fixed position. Measuring how often and how consistently your brand appears takes repeated readings over time.

Yes. Agencies use the AI Brand Visibility Checker to read where a client’s brand stands before a meeting or a pitch. Select “An agency” in the first step, enter your work email and your client’s brand name.

No. ChatGPT draws on what’s written about your brand online, not on what consumers in your market actually think or buy. The two can differ widely. That’s why we measure consumer perception separately, through Brand Tracking.
